Stephen Germana
This work was created by Meghan Moe Beitiks during her time as the May 2021 Artist in Residence at the Rodgers Art Loft in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meghan Moe Beitiks works with associations and disassociations of culture/nature/structure. She analyzes perceptions of ecology through the lenses of site, history, emotions, and her own body in order to produce work that examines relationships with the non-human. The work emerges as video, performance, installation, writing, or photography depending on what arises from her process of research and improvisation.
Stephen Germana designed the sonic portion for this event along the themes of the piece; the reflective glass surfaces of many Las Vegas Resorts, the desert environment, the arc of the sun, and the poem “Ozymandias.” Using analog synthesizers, electric instruments, and field recordings, these sounds were incorporated into a versatile Max/MSP patch to be used either live or prerecorded in a stereo or multi-channel setting depending on the demands of the performance.
Untitled (Desert Refractions): Saturday, May 29th, 6:00 – 7:00 pm
